Pre-Trip Preparation

  • Step 1: Click on the link, find "Book Dive & Conservation Trip"

  • Step 2: Find our trip dates | May 25-29

  • Step 3: Fill out all of the necessary information

    • Select: $0.00 No for adding additional PADI Dive Courses/Certifications​

    • Select: 1 week for trip duration 

    • Select: Former ReefCI Volunteer for how you found out about trip

  • Step 4: Pay & Book trip!​

    • Please notify FIU SCUBA / our officers once you have done this!!

  • Step 5: Fill out all of the necessary forms and waivers (you will receive an email from ReefCI with the step by step instructions). Might include but not limited to:

    • Scuba Diving & Boat Travel Waiver

    • Dive Equipment & Island Facilities Waiver

    • Medical Statement 

    • Physical Examination Form

Travel + Dive Insurance

(Mandatory) | Must cover both Scuba + Travel

Below are two recommended dive + travel insurance options: Option 1: Diver’s Alert Network: (Membership & Accident Insurance: Add Travel Insurance for duration of trip) Option 2: World Nomad Travel Insurance: (Choose - Adventure Activities: Standard & Explorer Plan Sports & Activities as listed for U.S residents) Option 3: Any other travel insurance that covers SCUBA diving is allowed!

FIU Office of Education Abroad

  • Step 1: Search “International Experience Abroad FIU” or visit Education Abroad User Login

    • Click on “Apply Now”

    • Log-in using (as if logging in to Canvas or FIU Mail). 

  • Step 2: Fill in Program Options 

    • Select term → Summer 2026

    • Select country & dates 

      • Location: Belize, Central America

      • Arrival Date: May 24, 2026

      • Departure Date: May 30, 2026

    • Click on the “Get Started” button.

  • Step 3Complete all of the following items (Note, this will also be found on the dashboard/to-do list within the portal.)

    • Complete the Questionnaires

      • Emergency Contact Information

      • International Experience Abroad Program Information

      • Other FIU International Travel Information

    • Complete the Materials

      • Passport Copy

      • Sign the Medical Form (click here) and attach it onto your application

      • Pre-Departure Orientation (videos and resources are found on your application)   

      • Take the Pre-Departure Quiz – (you must score a 90% or higher)    

      • Sign the pre-departure document (click here)  and attach it onto your application.

        • (Note, please know that you must watch the Pre-Departure Orientation – video and resources and Take the Pre-Departure Quiz before signing this form)

  • Step 4: Download the “AlertTraveler Activation” App

    • Follow the steps to sign-in using your FIU credentials 

    • Select “I would like to be notified by SMS”

The FIU SCUBA CLUB (hereinafter, the "Club") operates strictly as an organizational entity and a non-booking, third-party intermediary for voluntary recreational travel and dive activities, including those undertaken internationally.

 

DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY: The Club and its officers expressly disclaims and shall incur no liability for any injury, loss, damage, expense, delay, or accident, including, but not limited to, those resulting in property damage, bodily injury, or death, arising from or related to any aspect of travel, accommodation, or activity.

MEMBER RESPONSIBILITY: All members are solely and individually responsible for the arrangement and procurement of all aspects of the trip, including, but not limited to: International Air Travel and Local Transport; Lodging and Accommodation; Comprehensive Travel and Medical Insurance (which must provide adequate coverage for international incidents and dive-related emergencies); and All Dive Activities and Excursions with independent providers.

 

By participating in FIU SCUBA Club’s international trip, the member acknowledges, understands, and agrees that they are required to review and execute all requisite liability waivers, releases, and indemnity agreements imposed by the respective independent third-party providers. Furthermore, the member agrees to indemnify and hold harmless the FIU SCUBA CLUB, its officers, and agents from any claims arising out of the performance or non-performance of said third-party providers, or any incidents occurring while traveling abroad.
